Use Tokens for Good in Claude or ChatGPT

Translate, sort, extract and summarise many texts at once, from the chat you already use.

You add Tokens for Good to Claude or ChatGPT as a connector. It takes about a minute and needs no software. You only need your organisation's API key. Staff do not need their own Tokens for Good account.

The work runs on our donated computers and counts against your organisation's free monthly budget. Claude or ChatGPT hands it work on several texts or long results, such as a list of emails to sort or a set of messages to translate, so your own AI plan lasts longer.

Before you start: what happens to your data

Text you send is processed on computers donated by volunteers and companies; their owners could read it. Do not send personal data (names with contact details, health, finances, beneficiary records) unless your organisation is on the trusted tier.

Tokens for Good does not store the text you send or the answers. We only keep token counts. Claude or ChatGPT still sees everything in your chat, as usual. More in our privacy policy.

1. Get an API key

  1. The owner of your organisation's account logs in to the organisation dashboard. Your organisation must be approved first.
  2. Under API keys, they create a key, for example called "Claude, fundraising team". It starts with sk-tfg- and is only shown once.
  3. They share the key with the people who will connect. Share it the way you would share a password.

We only ask for your key on mcp.tokensforgood.nl and tokensforgood.nl. Never paste it anywhere else, and never paste it into a chat.

2. Connect Claude

This works the same in Claude on the web, the desktop app and the mobile app.

  1. Open Settings > Connectors and choose Add custom connector.
  2. Paste this address and click Connect:
    Connector URL
    https://mcp.tokensforgood.nl/mcp
  3. A Tokens for Good page opens and asks for your organisation's API key. Paste the key and continue.
  4. Check the box Connect [your organisation] to Claude? and click Allow.

If you don't see the option to add a custom connector, your plan or workspace admin may need to enable it.

3. Connect ChatGPT

The steps are the same. Look under Settings > Connectors. Until Tokens for Good is listed in ChatGPT, you may need to turn on developer mode to add a custom connector. Paste the address above, then paste your key on the Tokens for Good page and click Allow.

ChatGPT changes its menus often, so the names may differ a little.

4. What you can ask

Once connected, just ask in your own words, for example "Translate these 40 messages into Arabic with Tokens for Good". Claude or ChatGPT picks the right tool:

translate
Translates a list of texts into one language.
classify
Puts each text in one of your categories, or “unclear”.
extract
Pulls one piece of information out of each text, such as a postcode or a date.
summarize
Summarises each text in a set number of words (30 by default).
ask
Runs your own instruction on each text, or once without texts.
usage
Shows how much of this month’s budget your organisation has used.

For one or two texts, Claude or ChatGPT can do it alone. The tools help when there are many texts. AI answers can be wrong. Check the results before you use them, especially before you send anything to people.

If a key leaks

  1. Revoke the key on your dashboard.
  2. Every Claude and ChatGPT connection made with that key stops working straight away.
  3. Make a new key and connect again with it.

Tip: make one key per team or location. If one leaks, you only revoke that one, and the others keep working.

For developers

Developer tools can skip the key page and send the key directly as a header to the same address. Keep the key out of files you share or commit.

Claude Code
claude mcp add --transport http tokens-for-good https://mcp.tokensforgood.nl/mcp \
  --header "Authorization: Bearer sk-tfg-..."
Cursor (~/.cursor/mcp.json)
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "tokens-for-good": {
      "url": "https://mcp.tokensforgood.nl/mcp",
      "headers": {
        "Authorization": "Bearer ${env:TFG_API_KEY}"
      }
    }
  }
}

For Cursor, set TFG_API_KEY in your environment. Claude Desktop uses the connector steps above.
